Comments are pieces of HTML or XHTML code that are ignored by web browsers. In HTML, anything written within the <!– … –!> tag qualifies as a comment and doesn’t invite any action from the browser. Comments enable designers to insert useful information in between codes, such as code identifiers or instructions for other designers. Commenting is a convenient way to make codes more understandable for other designers who might work on the same site. Other Markup Languages have different Commenting formats.
