A doorway page is a web page specifically created to rank high in a search engine’s non-paid listings without conveying any useful information. Those navigating to the page will only find a call to action such as that urging them to click on it, or they may be automatically redirected to another page. However, if a user implements cloaking, the doorway page may not be visible to visitors at all. Although search engines commonly have regulations against such doorway pages, it is possible to include them through paid inclusion programs. A common mistake is confusing these with landing pages which are totally different. Doorway pages are also known by the names bridge pages, gateway pages or jump pages.
