Edgerank is an algorithm used by social networking giant Facebook. It spells out a way to rank the pages of popular businesses, brands or celebrities, in order to determine the posts to be displayed on the user’s news, feeds connected to the said pages. A page having a higher edgerank will have more chances of getting its posts displayed on the user’s news feeds. While originally the algorithm focused solely on the engagement between the accounts and the posts, it has since been updated to take into account a number of other factors as well. Facebook has always been secretive about this aspect and has never released any information, or even used the term publically.
